Wedding Day - Lisa

The 2010 Wedding Season just keeps getting sweeter and sweeter as we receive beautiful images from talented photographers like these of Lisa and Tom's Wedding from Elle Jae. We have long been fans of the husband and wife team and you are about to see why. Their work is timeless, they create photos that will spend a lifetime looking good on your mantle, mom and dad's too! Elle Jae has a knack to for making it all look so effortless. Isn't that what a great photo looks like? Effortlessly perfect?

We loved, loved, loved the bride Lisa. Violet and I were lucky to do her hair and makeup for her engagement photos so come the wedding day, we really felt like old friends, cliche but true! Lisa is a brillant woman with a bright sprit. We shared a lot of laughs, I guess that's why it doesn't surprise me that her pictures are filled with laughter and happiness.

Red Carpet Beauty Review - AMA's 2010

Wow, what an eclectic group at this years AMA's. I often find at awards shows there is a certain prevailing look, or style with a few out of the box choices. The AMA's this year really kept me guessing from star to star with some favs and a "what were you thinking" sprinkled in here and there.
Loved....
Jenny McCarthy HairJenny McCarthy looked simply amazing! I loved her overall looked with thick black, winged eyeliner, peach cheek and lip. To copy Jenny's look keep it neutral on the lid with a medium, warm brown in the crease like Soft Brown (a peachy-brown) by MAC. Try Stila's Stay All Day Waterproof liquid Eye Liner pen for a sharp line like Jenny's. A must do is false lashes and the faker looking the better. Choose your favorite strip lash to really pull this look together. her hair was, hot, hot, hot too! Loving that volume; a perfect compliment to her makeup! Another favorite of the night Miley Cyrus! I thought her dress was so unique and her makeup was flawless, much like Jenny McCarthy's but a pale pink version. Her super, subtle waves and center part are very right now. Perfectly smooth and ultra shiny!

So the what were you thinking? Fergie and of course Kei$ha. Fergie no makeup look was a big miss and Kei$ha, I get it...I guess? Ok, no I don't. What do you all think?

Hair Trend - Ombre Color

Ombre translates from French quite literally to mean "shaded", think of a gradient of color and for hair a gradation of color from root to tips! It is a hot celeb trend that you should try, with a color professional of course. This would be my trend of choice if I wasn't working my way to a full head of blond hair at the moment. It is so now and really ridiculously cool!

Reasons to try...Low maintenance! You might just put your colorist out of business without those 6 week root touch ups and it's also a great way to grow out roots. This color trend works best on longer hair to really take advantage of the color gradation.

Dermagenics - Skin care product review

We were contacted by a company called Dermagenics and asked if we would give their moisturizer a try and review on our blog. We are always in search for the latest and greatest in skincare care so we more than happily accepted.

Anti-Aging MoisturizerI have just started using it as of this morning and will give it a full 30 days to see the results. What I find most interesting is that this cream is for your entire face, including eyes and neck. Wouldn't it be great to eliminate the extra step of eye cream?

Here is how Dermagenics describes their product: "Our product works by plumping and moisturizing skin from below the epidermis, where marine peptides stimulate the production of collagen and elastin at the epidermal-dermal junction, plumping the skin and pushing out wrinkles and fine lines, while improving skin texture and elasticity. Sodium hyaluronate keeps the skin ultra-hydrated, and antioxidants green tea and vitamin C make skin healthy and nutrient-rich. The result? Gorgeous skin, from the outside, in".

Friday's Fabulous Finds - Nars Holiday Collection

For better or worse, I have never been one to buy "holiday collection" products. I think it's fear that I will fall in love with something and never be able to get it again. Well this year I am getting over it with some Nars holiday collection therapy. Seriously, this collection is stunning with some gems to add to your makeup bag.

Here are the standout favorites:

Sex Appeal Blush ($26.00) A soft peach. The perfect choice if you love Orgasm but would like a bit of a toned down version without shimmer. It's gorgeous!
Little darling lipstick

Little Darling Lipstick ($24.00) The perfect nude beige, sheer too!
Etrusque Single Eyeshadow ($23.00) Apply this shadow dry or wet for a wash of glimmering gold. We Dolls love to pair a gold lid with a red lip for the holidays.

Red Carpet Beauty Review - CMA's 2010

Wow, countries brightest stars certainly impressed last night! Gorgeous gowns, polished, piled high hair and a few beauty standouts to boot!

Our absolute favorite of the night was Joanna Garcia! She bent the red carpet rules a bit and strayed from the standard pink lips and black eyeliner.
joanna-garcia-cma-awards-makeup

Love, love, love the electric purple shadow and liner! The under eye lash line application was executed flawlessly and paired with a barely there pale pink blush and uber nude lip this was the most interesting look of the night. That red hair and purple dress? Things dreams are made of!

Miranda Lambert was our other beauty favorites of the night. The color of her gown and accessories were a wow and paired with glamorous hair and makeup, the look was a hit!

A deep, side part bang and soft voluminous curled side pony was such a flattering choice on Miranda and showed off some perfectly placed low lights and fabulous earrings. Her hair color looked great!

Bright fuchsia lips were tempered with a bronze blush; a nice choice not to match the cheeks to lips as it would have been overwhelming with the dress color. Lots of black liquid liner in an exaggerated cat eye, top and bottom lid with plenty of black mascara to complete the look. This would be a perfect look for our holiday parties, no?

OPI's Burlesque Collection - Glitter & Shine this holiday season!

We Dolls love, love having our nails done. We are nail polish addicts in fact! I can't make it out of MAC or my local beauty supply store without adding yet another polish to my ever growing collection. I also bring my own polish to the salon, they just don't always have the very latest and greatest wouldn't you agree?

I have been waiting, impatiently that is, for OPI's Burlesque collection to be released and ladies, it has! Won't all of these colors be just perfect for the upcoming holiday season!

I purchased "Bring on the Bling (gold below)" and "Show it and Glow It (purple below)". Both required two, a bit thicker than I would normally do, coats but the results are stunning! I love sparkle and this didn't disappoint!

I can see it now...perfectly glittery nails holding a glass of bubbly....ah the holidays!

Our Beauty Secrets - MAC Skinfinish Natural Powder

Oh where, oh where have you been all my life Skinfinish Powder! Buy this powder, today, no now...it is that good, the only powder you need in your makeup bag. My only complaint is that I didn't know about it sooner.

My general powder complaints are probably much like yours...powder is too "powdery", you can see it on the skin. It's too heavy, once applied, it's all I see. I spend time applying my foundation and concealer flawlessly only to have powder settle into my fine lines. Bad, bad, bad! Well Mac's Skinfinish Natural Powder is the perfect problem solver. To put it simply, when you apply it over your concealer, tinted moisturizer and/or foundation your skin just looks like skin, be it REALLY perfect, gorgeous skin but that's it! No powdery finish, no settling in lines...just the look of perfect skin!

Buy at your local store on online at MAC, $26.00. You will love it as much as we do!

The Dolls Recommend - Shimmer and Sparkle

The holidays are fast approaching and we all love adding that extra hint gleam to our eyes, face or lips for that special occasion. When used subtly, highlighting can make your look go from boring to breathtaking in a few minutes! We all admire that glow that celebs and models have and wonder what do they use? Here are a few of our favorite "glow givers" for this holiday season...

Benefit's Lust Dusters in Sparkling Sand will give you that angelic glow when applied either in the inner corner of your eyes, on the bridge of your nose and on the high point of the cheekbone.

Another great kit is from Make Up Forever Rock Forever Palette. This hot collection contains 4 shimmering shades to perk up you eyes for evening and you can also use it for daytime, just use the lighter tones or line with the darker ones.

The piece de resistance is Too Faced Enchanted Glamouland Set. This amazing completion contains 15 high-pigment shadows, an anti-crease shadow primer, a sexy nude  gloss, pink blush, and bronzer trio to create a variety of looks fit for a fairy tail princess!
